Hello valued friends, partners, and colleagues,
This week, I have been reflecting deeply on the power and miracle of time.
It has been an emotional week as my daughter began her senior year of high school. Looking through her childhood photos, I remembered how often people told me, “Enjoy every moment because time goes by so quickly.”
When she was little, it sounded like such a cliché. Now, I understand. It feels as though I blinked, and suddenly, almost eighteen years have passed. She is beginning her final year of high school, and before I know it, she will be leaving for college.
It made me realize that time is the one thing that never stops. Every morning, we have an opportunity to ask ourselves, “How will I use the precious time I have been given today?”
Yesterday was a powerful reminder of this.
My day began with so much joy and excitement as I watched my daughter drive away for her last first day of high school. Later, while participating in a panel discussion in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, I received a message saying that my mother might be experiencing a mild heart attack. As soon as the panel ended, I rushed to get her and take her to the hospital.
In that moment, everything became clear again.
Time is precious. Time is uncertain. All we truly have is right now.
Life can change in a matter of seconds. When everything is going well, we must remember to pause and appreciate it. Enjoy the meal. Make the call. Give the hug. Hold the people you love a little tighter.
The heartbreaking stories we hear every day remind us that tomorrow is never promised. This does not mean we should live in fear. We should live fully, faithfully, and intentionally. I believe that when it is our time, it is our time, but until then, we should never allow fear to stop us from truly living.
If today were your last day, what would you do differently?
Who would you call?
Who would you forgive?
Who would you hug a little longer?
What moment would you stop rushing through and simply enjoy?
This week, I invite you to reflect on those questions. Be present. Love deeply. Live intentionally. Give thanks for the ordinary moments that, one day, you may realize were actually extraordinary.
Time passes faster than we can imagine, and everything can change in a single second.
Make today count.
With love and gratitude,
Luisa
