Hello valued friends, partners, and colleagues,
This week, I want to reflect on the power of resilience and perseverance.
Watching the Kentucky Derby this year felt like witnessing a real life lesson unfold before our eyes. Seeing Golden Tempo start from the very LAST position and fight all the way to the front was such a powerful reminder that where you begin does not determine where you finish.
It feels even more symbolic happening during the Year of the Horse, a reminder of strength, endurance, passion, and an unstoppable spirit.
Many may feel behind in life. Maybe you feel far from your goals, exhausted from the grind, or discouraged because the finish line seems so far away. Yet the Derby reminded us that breakthroughs happen through:
A determined mindset.
Laser focus and clarity.
One step at a time.
When you stay disciplined, refuse to get in your head, and simply keep moving forward with determination, miracles can happen.
This year’s Derby was especially meaningful because we witnessed history in so many ways. We saw Cherie DeVaux become the first female trainer to win the Derby with Golden Tempo. We witnessed Puerto Rican brothers Irad Ortiz Jr. and Jose Ortiz finish in first and second place. Above all, we were reminded that “the last shall be first.”
Life will sometimes make you feel like you are in last place. It may even convince you that your moment will never come. But with the right mindset, relentless faith, resilience, and perseverance, you can rise beyond what once seemed impossible.
It all starts in the mind.
You have to believe. You have to grind. You have to stay focused. You have to keep going even when doubt tries to creep in.
There can’t be hesitation when chasing your purpose. You have to trust God, trust the process, and give it everything you have.
Because one day, you, too, will cross the finish line with your head held high.
With love and gratitude,
Luisa
